Yes liang, only auto means the server just sends a single report out on a pre-determined basis rather than everyone spamming the server for requests over and over.

My guess would be because you have a better chance landing the killing blow when you're hitting them with steady dps rather than relying on long cycle burst. i.e. you hit the target, it survives, barely. Now you have to wait an entire cycle to try...

All I know to do is use the directional scanner, input a range of 9999999999999 and hit scan. It will adjust to the maximum scan distance. Other than that I don't know what theyre doing that you arent. I've never known the ships scanner to help id...
